Project: Chattahoochee River Road Trail Cleanup
Location: Georgia

Description: On September 26, 2026, 20 volunteers from Mountain Top Jeepers of North Georgia came together for a Tread Lightly! trail cleanup along Chattahoochee River Road in celebration of National Public Lands Day.

Volunteers covered nearly five miles along both sides of the road and surrounding creek areas, collecting approximately 175 pounds of trash and debris. The collected waste filled the back of a Jeep Gladiator and was properly disposed of in coordination with the U.S. Forest Service.

Through the BFGoodrich Tires Outstanding Trails Grant, Tread Lightly! provided trash bags, gloves, grabbers, and Tread Lightly! recreation tips to support the volunteers and promote responsible recreation.

Building on the success of this cleanup, Mountain Top Jeepers plans to return during the cooler months for another event focused on cleaning the lower portion of the trail.

Thank you to the partners who made this possible:
· BFGoodrich Tires Outstanding Trails
· Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest
· Mountain Top Jeepers

“We are so appreciative of Tread Lightly! and funding through the BFGoodrich Tires Outstanding Trails Grant to help us with the trash bags, gloves and grabber sticks to help the club with this National Public Lands Day cleanup. We are excited to clean up the lower half of the Chattahoochee River Rd in the fall as temperatures cool off.”-Angelia Lacey – Mountain Top Jeepers

“Thank you to our valued partner, BFGoodrich Tires for continuing to support their Outstanding Trails Grant program. This grant enables Tread Lightly! to help clubs off-set the costs of trail cleanups, repairs and remediation efforts across the country as they work to keep our public lands, trails and campgrounds open and accessible for future generations of motorized recreation enthusiasts.”-Lowell Eckart – Tread Lightly! Southeast Program Manager
